The crew prepares Strasburg Rail Road 4-8-0 #475, formerly Norfolk and Western #475, for a job she’s well aquainted with – an early morning revenue freight. Todays run, August 24th, 2012, will consist of one lone Railbox box car full of lumber, along with a coach and a caboose. The crew arrives most every Wednesday and Friday at 5 AM for the 6:30 AM jaunt to Lehman Place to make a pickup from NS on Amtrak’s Harrisburg Corridor. The event was initially diesel powered but later to the delight of many, steam powered! The railroad invites fans to ride along in the caboose and has since added a coach for added capacity. Plans are to continue through at least October of 2012. See site for details: http://www.strasburgrailroad.com.
